The Best Buy space located at 15750 Shady Grove Rd. in Gaithersburg’s 270 Center will be “coming available” on February 1st 2025, according to commercial real estate brokerage klnb. This would be approximately thirty years after the store initially opened the location in the mid 90s.
klnb is marketing the space as a “rare box opportunity” for 46,155 square feet with a virtual tour of the location also available on the klnb website. We spoke with management at the Best Buy Gaithersburg location last week, who were unable to answer questions about the store’s future and directed us to reach out directly to the company. We have sent two inquiries in the last week that have gone unanswered.
Usually, when locations are listed as coming available on a certain date, the business that currently occupies the space closes prior to that date. There is also a possibility that Best Buy signs a new lease to continue operating out of the space that has been its longtime home on Shady Grove Rd. In March, it was reported that Best Buy plans to close between 10 to 15 stores nationwide by 2025 after closing 24 stores in the last fiscal year. We will provide an update if we receive information regarding the future of this Best Buy location.
