A Visit to Drake’s Favorite Restaurant in Toronto

While we usually offer you glances at dishes from across Montgomery County through Taste MoCo, our staff will occasionally travel across the country as you may have seen in our “Top Five Cheesesteaks in Philadelphia” list, and even north of the border to Toronto, Canada to experience a few of the restaurants in the area. In this case, one of our staff members visited Sotto Sotto, Drake’s favorite restaurant in his hometown of Toronto (located at 120 Avenue Rd. Toronto, Canada).

Drake is a popular musician who has won several Grammy and Billboard Music Awards, including Artist of the Decade. He has sold millions of albums and has become a pop icon who continues to support his hometown of Toronto, including his favorite restaurant in the city, Sotto Sotto.

After the host stand in front of the restaurant you can walk forward into the dining area where you’ll see a staircase that has dozens, if not hundreds, of photos of celebrities dining at the restaurant. Something that makes the walk upstairs to the restroom a little more exciting at the very least.

We had reservations on a Monday at 6pm in the middle of summer, so we didn’t have to deal with any waiting. Once inside, you’ll find white tablecloths and a menu of modestly priced dishes (for fine-dining). Below, we’ll show you each dish our party ordered. Overall, everyone left very satisfied with an experience that was enjoyable and talked about the following days without having to break the bank. The closest MoCo experience to this restaurant would probably be Il Pizzico in Rockville.

We started with the Antipasti Gordonia (Calamari e gamberi alla griglia, insalata caprese, peperoni arrosto e verdure grigliate | Grilled tiger shrimp and calamari, Caprese salad, roasted peppers with Asiago cheese and grilled vegetables)

Fresh Burrata drizzled with the signature Sotto olive oil
