Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a house explosion on the 4000 block of Byrd Rd in Kensington on Thursday, August 1.
According to MCFRS spokesperson David Pazos, firefighters were dispatched today at 2:43pm for a house fire with an explosion. Crews on the scene reported a gas-fed fire involving the gas meter and the electric meter. Firefighters are making an interior attack inside a single-family home, with all occupants safely evacuated and one cat missing. The bulk of the fire has been extinguished.
Traffic is currently closed on Byrd Rd between Mitscher St and Spruell Dr. We will provide an update if additional information becomes available.
