Back in March 2023, we reported that Umi Hot Pot, Sushi & Seafood Buffet would be taking over the space that was recently home to Miller’s Ale House and previously home to Hooters and Shakey’s at 1471 Rockville Pike in Rockville. The restaurant has made significant progress, and while a specific date isn’t yet available, it appears to be ready to open soon (photos below).
In December 2023, signage for Umi Sushi was replaced by signage for Raku AYCE Sushi & Seafood Buffet, before eventually changing back to Umi Sushi & Seafood Buffet earlier this year. Umi had its liquor license hearing on Thursday, June 6 so the finishing interior touches and final permitting appears to be the only thing left for the restaurant.
