Falls Church Ranked First in List of 2024’s “Top 500 Healthiest Communities”; Several Local Communities Ranked in Top 100

U.S. News & World Report released its list of 2024’s Top 500 Healthiest Communities with many local communities ranking in the top 100, including Montgomery County. Montgomery County was also recently listed as one of healthiest counties in Maryland and in the United States, according to the annual County Health Rankings (CHR).

The rankings were created with the assistance of the University of Missouri Extension Center for Applied Research and Engagement Systems – a research institution skilled in understanding natural resource systems, public health risks and community health assessment. The overall rankings identify the top 500 Healthiest Communities in America, ranging from No. 1 Falls Church, Virginia, to No. 500 San Luis Obispo County, California.

Beyond the rankings, the Healthiest Communities platform offers data on each of the thousands of communities evaluated, fostering insights and analysis that will educate and inform consumers and policymakers on what’s occurring in their communities. Users also can dive into the data with this interactive explorer tool.

In addition to Falls Church, VA coming in ranked first, there were several local communities ranked in the top 100, including Fairfax County, VA and Fairfax City, VA ranked 14th and 15th,  Arlington County, VA ranked 19th, Howard County, MD ranked 20th, Montgomery County, MD ranked 56th.
