Quincy Wilson, a rising junior at the Bullis School in Potomac, became the youngest male U.S. track Olympian when he ran the opening leg of Round 1 of the U.S. 4×400-meter relay Friday. Now, he’s the youngest male Olympic track and field gold medalist ever…and school starts in two and a half weeks.
Wilson became the youngest male Olympic track and field gold medalist ever (all countries) after the USA men’s 4×400-meter relay team won gold over Botswana on Saturday. The winning team consisted of Chris Bailey, Vernon Norwood, Bryce Deadmon, and Rai Benjamin. Though Wilson did not compete in the final, running in the first round on Friday earned him a gold medal.
The All-Met Athlete of the Year by the Washington Post posted a picture of himself holding his gold medal with the caption, “Dang, I really got school in 2 and a half weeks.” He turns to Bullis for his junior year later this month. He grew up in Chesapeake, VA, but moved to Gaithersburg with his family to attend Bullis in Potomac.
