More Than 100 MCPS Students Graduated in Summer Ceremony This Week

MCPS recently shared that graduates donned red, black, green, and blue gowns as they celebrated the conclusion of their high school journey. Over 100 MCPS students gathered on Tuesday at Wheaton High School for the summer school graduation ceremony.

The achievements of these seniors were hard-earned, with students dedicating their summer to studying and earning their diplomas, demonstrating perseverance in reaching their goals. Board of Education Member Grace Rivera-Oven served as the keynote speaker, offering words of wisdom: “Learn as much as you can. Remember to always be thankful for today. Cherish yesterday, but be thankful for today. Think about tomorrow, and never forget to tell your loved ones how much they mean to you.”

This event marks the close of the graduation season for MCPS. This year, the district saw over 12,000 graduates, with approximately 2,100 of them earning the Maryland Seal of Biliteracy, recognizing their proficiency in more than one language.
