Mpox Information Shared by the Maryland Department of Health Following WHO’s Declaration of Health Emergency

Just an couple days after the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the recent mpox outbreak a “public health emergency of international concern,” the Maryland Department of Health has shared information on the disease via social media.

In the first of two tweets, the MD Health Department wrote, “Mpox is a serious disease. It can be painful, and people can be contagious for weeks. Protect yourself and your community by learning how to prevent mpox: bit.ly/3RBuRSk

A follow up tweet, contained the following information and image (shown below), “Mpox can cause a painful, itchy rash on various parts of the body that looks like sores or blisters. Common symptoms include fever, chills, swollen lymph nodes, muscle aches and backache, exhaustion, headache, and respiratory symptoms.”
