The Takoma Park Police Department has announced a special Tile Mate (Air Tag) Giveaway event on Saturday, September 28, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on the corner of Maple Ave. and Sligo Creek Pkwy.
Per Takoma Park Police: As part of our ongoing commitment to community safety, we will be distributing free Tile Mate tracking tags to residents of Takoma Park. These devices can be placed in vehicles to assist residents in locating their vehicles in the event of theft. We opted for Tile Mate due to its compatibility with both iPhone and Android devices.
The Tile Mate becomes the property of the resident upon distribution, and the police do not track these devices; only the resident can track them via their phones. Eligibility Requirements:
- Participants must reside within Takoma Park city limits.
- Participants are required to present a valid photo identification card along with a matching vehicle registration and utility bill as proof of address.
- City of Takoma Park employees are also eligible to receive a Tile Mate if they meet the residency requirement.
There will be a registration and educational booth.
Distribution will be on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last, so we encourage residents to arrive early. This event is a great opportunity for our community members to protect their belongings and stay connected with the Takoma Park Police Department’s safety initiatives.
