The Renowned Urban Nation H.I.P-H.O.P. Choir, which is the brainchild of Dr. Shiela Johnson Newman Co-Founder of Black Entertainment Television (BET) and Grammy Voting Member, Dr. Rickey Payton, Sr., (President, CEO & Artistic Director of Urban Nation) will be performing at the Outdoor Riverworks Stage (17617 W Willard Rd, Poolesville, MD) On September 28, 2024, from 3:00 PM – 4:30 PM.
Focusing on the acronym HIP-HOP, which stands for (HOPE, INTEGRITY, POWER, HELPING OUR PEOPLE), Urban Nation brings together a group of young motivated youth, to promote peace, justice, violence prevention and cross cultural understanding through the arts.
The choir has shared the stage with such notable superstars as, the late Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Opera Diva Denyce Graves, John Legend and many more. Urban Nation has also appeared at The White House, The Kennedy Center along with many other venues throughout the DC metropolitan area.
