The original “viral Dubai chocolate bar” was created by Fix Dessert Chocolatier, a UAE-based brand founded by Sarah Hamouda in 2021. The original bar, named “Can’t Get Knafeh of It” is a milk chocolate bar filled with pistachio cream and kataifi, and various versions of it are selling online for as much as $40 per bar– our very own @MrMoCo301 found a local version and gave it a try (video below).
The buzz around the chocolate started to grow in December 2023 when UAE-based creator Maria Vehera shared a 90-second video on TikTok where she broke a chocolate bar, dipped it in green pistachio cream, and took a bite. The video now has more than 77 million views and over 5 million likes.
For months it has been everywhere with our sister “foodie” outlet TasteMoCo receiving multiple inquiries about where to acquire the chocolate locally. We finally found it available at Hannah’s Luxury Desserts, which operates in Rockville, Maryland, and gave it a shot.
Mr. MoCo wrote in his Instagram post, “Some people see the word viral and immediately hate whatever is attached to it, so you’ll definitely see and hear the some of the things that come with that.” The chocolate bars, which are not as large as most you’ve seen online, come with a $15 price tag. While expensive for a candy bar, it’s pretty much in line with the prices you’ll find online and far less than the $40+ they were going for a couple weeks/months back. A video of the bar, and his opinion, can be seen below:
