Approximately 90 Firefighters Respond to 2nd Alarm Fire; Damage Estimated at $1.5 Million

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) were dispatched to 5225 Pooks Hill Rd in Bethesda (Promenade Towers) for a 2nd alarm high rise building fire at approximately 11:30pm Tuesday night. Approximately 90 firefighters were on the scene.

According to Assistant Chief David Pazos, “crews located heavy smoke on the 6th floor and a 2nd alarm was dispatched.” The Fire was accidental in nature and an estimated $1.5 in damage was incurred ($1 million to structure, $500K to contents).

MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer provided an update on Wednesday morning stated that the apartment building does not have sprinklers and there were no injuries, though several people were displaced. The area of origin was a hallway closet.
