Torchy’s Tacos, known for their “Damn Good Tacos,” will hold its grand opening on Wednesday, October 2nd at 10am. According to a representative at the location, the first 100 people in line will receive a keychain that lets them get free queso for a year one.
The restaurant is located at 12266 Rockville Pike in Federal Plaza, taking over part of the space that was recently home to Chuy’s and previously home to Ruby Tuesday.
Last week, we reported that the restaurant is set to host its soft opening on September 29th and 30th, from 10am-8pm. A QR code currently displayed at the restaurant’s entrance allows guests to reserve their spot for the soft opening by directing them to an online registration page.
“I grew up in the DC area, left on a winding journey to become a chef and open my own restaurant. To be honest, when I left, I didn’t know how things would turn out. Now, I get to bring Torchy’s Tacos award-winning queso and Damn Good tacos to Rockville!” says Mike Rypka, CEO and Founder of Torchy’s Tacos, “To open a restaurant and share my food with the DC area is like a dream come true. There’s a little something about coming home again and showing what you have done and what you can do.”

According to Tochy’s, the Rockville restaurant opening at Federal Plaza will be Torchy’s Tacos 129th location nationwide across 16 states. The 3,961 sq ft. restaurant will feature 168 dining seats,
including a full bar that offers full-service ordering and multiple televisions.
Torchy’s Tacos features “the most unique tacos, coveted queso and refreshing margaritas in the game, and the rotating Taco of the Month.” With more than 115 locations across 14 states, Torchy’s Tacos serves tacos, sides, and drinks from scratch, made-to-order.
