Gaithersburg Police Officer Tyler Kendall Receives “Lifesaving Award” For Heroic Actions Earlier This Year

Gaithersburg Police Chief Mark Sroka presented the Lifesaving Award and recognized several promotions during a presentation and pinning ceremony at the September 16 Mayor and City Council meeting.

Officer Tyler Kendall received the Lifesaving Award (video below) in recognition of his quick and decisive actions leading to the saving of a life on April 9th, 2024. Officers were dispatched to the home of an elderly woman who collapsed in her bedroom and was unresponsive. Officer Kendall arrived on scene prior to the arrival of ambulance personnel. He located the victim and immediately began providing CPR. He completed several cycles of chest compressions until ambulance personnel took over. While rendering aid, ambulance personnel announced they had obtained a pulse and transported the victim to the hospital for further care.

Gaithersburg Lieutenant Shawn Eastman was promoted to the rank of Captain and position of Assistant Chief of Police, Sergeant Willie Delgado was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, Corporal Chris Leach was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, and Police Officers Raekwon Sample and David Bower were promoted to the rank of Corporal.
