Pennsylvania State Police are searching for a Maryland man wanted in connection to a carjacking and theft. Kenneth Crider, of Poolesville, Maryland, is facing charges of robbery, theft, and receiving stolen property.
According to CBS News, “Willard Martz parked in a handicapped spot at the Tractor Supply store in Mt. Pleasant and planned to get dog food for Lucky, a 10-year-old airedale-terrier mix. While walking into the store, someone stole his key and drove off.” According to court paperwork, surveillance video at the Walmart in Dunbar Township showed the suspect, Kenneth Crider of Poolesville, Maryland, pull into a parking space about an hour later and take Lucky out of the car to go to the bathroom. Crider went into Walmart for a short time, then drove off again in Martz’s car.
Per Pennsylvania State Police, “State troopers were called to the Tractor Supply in East Huntingdon Township on September 23, 2024 for the robbery of a vehicle. The victim told police he was walking into a Tractor Supply when the suspect allegedly forcibly stole the victim’s truck keys from his pocket and fled the parking lot toward Route 819. The victim’s dog, Lucky, remained inside the vehicle as the suspect drove off.
Police obtained surveillance video from the Walmart in Connellsville showing the suspect entering the store less than an hour after the carjacking. Troopers said the video showed Crider pulling into the parking lot, letting the dog out to urinate, before he placed the dog back inside the vehicle. Crider left the Walmart parking lot a short time later in the victim’s 2016 Ford Focus.
Anyone with information of Crider’s whereabouts is asked to call the Greensburg barracks at 724-832-3288.”
