According to District 3 Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) Commander Jason Cokinos, officers apprehended an intoxicated man who was armed with an illegally possessed handgun in White Oak after responding to a 911 call on Thursday afternoon.
Cokinos tweeted: “🚨Dangerous situation resolved peacefully in White Oak 🚓
Violent felon armed with an illegally possessed handgun taken into custody: Around 4:40PM this afternoon, your @mcpnews 3rd District officers responded to a 911 call about an intoxicated male armed with a handgun in the 11400 Block of Lockwood Drive.
Officers arrived and formulated a plan to safely approach the scene where they observed the male subject wearing no shirt with a handgun sticking out of his waistband.
This situation could have turned real bad real quick! 😳
However, the officers used their training and incredible decision making to take the subject into custody without any issues or injury.
The subject was prohibited from possessing the handgun due to a previous violent felony. He was taken to central processing and booked.
