Approximately 50 Firefighters Respond to House Fire That Displaces Seven Adults and One Infant

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a house fire on Duvall St., off of W Deer Park Rd. in Gaithersburg at approximately 5am on Wednesday morning.

According to MCFRS Chief Spokesperson Pete Piringer, firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions upon arrival (fire through roof). Approximately 50 firefighters responded, and as of 6:38am, the fire was extinguished.

Piringer stated that all of the occupants, including seven adults, one infant, and one dog, were able to get out of the house safely. The fire likely started in the garage, and the origin/cause remains under investigation. There were no injuries.

Montgomery County Police posted a traffic alert stating that “Fire Rescue activity has the intersection of West Deer Park Road and Duvall Lane shut down. Drivers are advised to seek an alternate route”, but the road has since reopened. Photos by MCFRS.
