Community Unites to Support Family of Man Tragically Killed by Driver After Moving in His Family to Their New Home

The community is rallying behind the family of 53-year-old Dominique Mwepu, who was killed by a driver in Germantown on Monday night. A GoFundMe fundraiser has been started to support his wife and son and help them with funeral costs.

According to a GoFundMe fundraiser, “On September 30 after moving his family to their new home, Dominique was returning home after dropping off the Uhaul truck when he was struck by a car and pronounced dead at the scene. Dominique leaves behind his wife Mireille and son Joshua. Domnique was well loved by his family community and his tragic passing leaves a gaping hole in all of our lives. Please donate to support Mireille and Joshua during this difficult journey and alleviate the funeral cost.”

Police stated the following in a news release earlier this week. “At approximately 7:55 p.m., Montgomery County Police Department 5th District Officers and Fire Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Frederick Road and High Point Drive for reports of a collision involving a blue Honda Prelude and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, identified as 53-year-old Dominique Mwepu, sustained life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead on the scene. The driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. CRU detectives urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them at (240) 773-6620.” Photo courtesy GoFundMe
