Niche has released its “2025 Best Public High Schools” rankings based on “rigorous analysis of key statistics and millions of reviews from students and parents using data from the U.S. Department of Education. Ranking factors include state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, teacher quality, and high school ratings.” The top 25 public high schools in the state of Maryland, according to their list, can be seen below:
Niche notes that SAT/ACT scores have been removed from this year’s rankings to reflect a general de-emphasis on test scores in the college admissions process. Out of schools in the top 25, Montgomery County (in bold below) leads the way with 12 schools, followed by Howard County with seven schools:
