Rescue Crews Respond to Two Separate Incidents on Potomac River; Search Continues for Missing Swimmer

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to two separate incidents on the Potomac River on Sunday, October 6, 2024.

According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, in the first incident, several people were stranded on rocks near Elms Point, and swift water rescue boats, with assistance from Loudoun and Fairfax Fire and Rescue, were dispatched to assist.

Simultaneously, a swimmer was reported in distress near Blockhouse Point. While the individuals stranded on the rocks were being rescued, boats also searched for the person in the water in the second incident, with efforts still ongoing.
