Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to a garage fire at a single-family home on Cherrydale Dr. in Rockville on Friday evening.
According to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer, approximately 75 firefighters arrived at the scene around 6:30 pm. A neighbor alerted the family to the fire in the garage. The origin and cause of the fire were determined to be at the floor level just inside the overhead garage doors, possibly due to improperly disposed smoking materials/cigarettes. The damage is estimated at approximatley$500,000, and four adults have been displaced. There we no injuries reported.
