Gaithersburg City Manager Tanisha Briley announced the appointment of Greg Mann as the city’s new director of Planning and Code Administration.
Per the City of Gaithersburg, Mann began his career with the City of Gaithersburg in 2012 as a planning technician within the Department of Planning and Code Administration, where he quickly demonstrated his expertise and dedication to urban planning. Over the years, he advanced through several roles in the Department, eventually rising to the position of community planning manager and most recently serving as acting director.
In his role as community planning manager, Greg played a pivotal role in several high-profile projects, including overseeing the review of the Schematic Development Plan for the revitalization of Lakeforest Mall, one of the City’s most significant redevelopment initiatives. He was also integral in leading the comprehensive review and update of the City’s Zoning Ordinance, ensuring that the Zoning Code was modernized to align with the City’s vision and development goals.
“Greg’s commitment to the City, his collaborative management approach, and his leadership on many successful projects large and small, helped him stand out among a pool of highly qualified candidates,” said Tanisha Briley.

Greg holds a Master of City and Regional Planning and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from The Catholic University of America. He is certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), further affirming his commitment in urban and regional planning.
