Signage is up for Uncle Marcos’ Express at 239 Muddy Branch Rd in the Festival at Muddy Branch shopping center in Gaithersburg. The restaurant will be located in the space previously occupied by Boca Botanas, which closed on February 3.
We will provide an update on Uncle Marcos’ when we learn addition information.
Boca Botanas, was founded in 2016 by Gaithersburg High School alumnus Michael Alexander and served a mix of Latin American cuisine served in a Spanish Tapas style. During the pandemic, the restaurant got creative and opened up three new virtual restaurant concepts to keep delivery sales going while dining out wasn’t an option. Cruudo which featured an extensive ceviche menu, Herby Vegan, which included plant based protein options like tofu ravioli and Beyond meat, and Bagel vs Bialy, which featured a selection of bagels and bialy (baked hybrid between a bagel and English muffin) sandwiches, became a hit.
