Maryland Is 2024’s 8th Best State for Health & Wellness, Per Study

The non-profit organization SmileHub today released new reports on the Best Charities for Health & Wellness and the Best States for Health & Wellness in 2024. Maryland came in ranked as the “8th Best State for Health & Wellness.”

To highlight the states that are most supportive of residents improving their health and wellness and the ones that need to improve the most, SmileHub compared each of the 50 states based on 23 key metrics. The data set ranges from the cost of a medical visit to the quality of public hospital systems to public health funding per capita. Health & Wellness in Maryland (1=Best, 25=Avg.):

  • Overall Rank: 8th
  • 10th – Health & Wellness Charities per Capita
  • 22nd – Life Expectancy
  • 17th – Public Health Funding per Capita
  • 21st – Obesity Rate
  • 3rd – Physicians per Capita
  • 17th – Quality of Public Hospital System
