Maryland Hits Peak Fall Foliage

Eastern Shore foliage has hit its peak for the season, bringing most of the state except for parts of Washington, Allegany, and Garrett Counties in Western Maryland (past peak) in peak foliage this fall, according to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (MDNR).

Per the Department of National Resources, “We have had a slow start but are now experiencing those vibrant Autumn colors of deep reds, oranges and yellows,” Park Ranger Joanna Trojanowski reported this past week. Oak trees are still showing some color throughout the state, with red oaks bringing some of the most dramatic colors. Western Maryland is nearing the end of its season, but there are still flourishes of color, and always plenty to see and do.

As Montgomery County residents continue embracing all the delightful aspects of fall and exploring the beautiful foliage outdoors, we’ve compiled a list of 11 great spots across the county to soak in the autumn scenery. The list can be seen here.
