16 Consecutive Days Without School Possible for Winter Break as MCPS Seeks Feedback on 2025-2026 School Calendar

Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) are in the calendar development process for the 2025-2026 school year and seeking feedback on two draft traditional calendars for additional feedback from students, staff, families, and community members.

The key features for Draft A (available below) include a “Transition Day for Students” on Monday, August 25, 2024 with the first day of school for students on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Winter Break would be from December 24, 2025- January 2, 2026 (12 consecutive days without school, including weekends). Spring Break would go from March 30, 2026 – April 6, 2026, and the last day of school for students would be Tuesday, June 17, 2026.

The key features for Draft B (available below) include a “Transition Day for Students” on Monday, August 25, 2024 with the first day of school for students on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. Winter Break would be from December 22, 2025- January 2, 2026 (16 consecutive days without school including weekends). Spring Break would go from March 30, 2026 – April 6, 2026, and the last day of school for students would be Thursday, June 22, 2026. The survey can be filled it out here.
