First Winter Storm Warning Issued for Portion of Maryland This Fall/Winter Season

While this is not near the DC Metro Area, the first Winter Storm Warning that includes a small portion of the state of Maryland has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS).

According to the NWS, a Winter Storm Warning has been issued along and west of the Alleghenies for heavy snow expected Thursday – Saturday morning. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches, with locally higher amounts of 12 to 18 inches possible along the ridgetops.

This is not a threat for our area, just a sign that the colder months and winter are moving closer. While very light snow is possible in areas like Damascus in Montgomery County and parts of Frederick, Howard, and Carroll counties, this is not expected to be disruptive in any way.
