Thanks to a tip from a citizen, the suspect wanted for the murder of 27-year-old Jessica Somerville is now in custody in North Carolina. With the assistance of the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office (NC) and the U.S. Marshals Service, 23-year-old Raheem Hawkins-Boseman of Silver Spring, was arrested late Wednesday night at a home in Leland, North Carolina.
According to the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGCPD), “On March 17, 2024, at approximately 2:15 am, officers responded to a shooting in the 5800 block of Silver Hill Road. Somerville was located outside of a business suffering from a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene. Through various investigative techniques, the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit obtained an arrest warrant for Hawkins-Boseman two days later on March 19, 2024.
The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect followed the victim outside of a fast food restaurant after a brief dispute and shot her in the parking lot. They were not known to each other prior to the encounter inside of the business.
The suspect is charged with first and second-degree murder and related charges. He is in the custody of the Brunswick County Detention Center in North Carolina pending extradition to Prince George’s County.”
