Lincoln Park Celebrated with New Public Artwork

A new mural, created by D.C.-based artist Rose Jaffe, has transformed the playground-facing wall of the Lincoln Park Community Center, located at 357 Frederick Ave. in Rockville.

This colorful artwork celebrates the spirit of the community, featuring residents of all ages engaging in dance, play, and movement, while incorporating elements of Maryland and Lincoln Park’s rich history. The mural also includes welcoming messages in multiple languages, reflecting the diversity of the community.

The ambitious project was made possible through a $30,000 grant from the Maryland State Arts Council. VisArts, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the arts, spearheaded the initiative in collaboration with the City of Rockville and local residents of Lincoln Park. Notably, children from the community participated alongside Jaffe in bringing the mural to life, adding their creative touch to the artwork.

This vibrant mural not only enhances the aesthetic of the community center, but also serves as a reminder of the importance of artistic expression and community engagement. It stands as a testament to the collaboration between artists, local organizations, and residents, fostering a sense of unity and pride within Lincoln Park.
