Quince Orchard High School defeated Broadneck High School 48-13 to advance to the 4A Maryland State Championship Game where they will take on Dr. Henry J. Wise in the State Championship. Wise, who beat Broadneck in the State Championship game last year 21-0, defeated C.H. Flowers High School 35-0 to advance. Coincidentally, Quince Orchard’s last State Championship in 2022 came with a 32-7 win against C.H. Flowers. Quince Orchard defeated Wise 31-13 in 2021 to win the State Championship. The two teams will meet Friday night at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis.
While Quince Orchard dominated their semifinal matchup against Broadneck (scoring plays highlighted by Damon Anderson below) Demeioun “Chop” Robinson, Quince Orchard Class of 2021, was able to attend the game. Robinson is the first student/athlete out of Quince Orchard to be drafted to the NFL (others have played, but worked their way onto a roster after going undrafted). He was drafted in the 1st round of the NFL draft by the Miami Dolphins (21st overall) and recently had his best game of the season against the New England Patriots on November 24th, when he had 4 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He has 18 tackles, 5 tackles for loss 8 quarterback hits, and 3.5 sacks on the season so far.
Chop helped the Cougars to a State Championship in 2018. He earned All-Met honors in 2019 and was the Maryland Gatorade Player of the year in 2021. Robinson player for Coach John Kelley at Quince Orchard High School, who is still the head football coach at the school. Robinson helped lead the Quince Orchard Cougars to a combined record of 25-2 in 2018 and 2019. Quince Orchard won a state title in 2018, picking up a 40-33 victory over North Point to with the 4A title and going 13-1 overall. The team reached the state semifinals in 2019, posting a 12-1 record. The Cougars had a stretch of 22 consecutive wins from 2018 to 2019 and Robinson was named an Under Armour All-American and a 2019 All-Met selection. He finished his high school football career breaking the school sack record, with 85 tackles (61 solo),14 sacks, three forced fumbles and one interception during his Junior campaign alone. After high school, he played in 13 games at the University of Maryland and then transferred to Penn State where he earned first team All-Big Ten honors.
