WSSC Water has set up a water station at the 666 Houston Avenue parking lot, located off Brighton Avenue, to assist residents impacted by the ongoing water main break in Takoma Park.
This station provides a critical resource for those experiencing water service disruptions. Residents are encouraged to bring their containers to fill at the station to ensure they have adequate water. The Takoma Park Police Department and WSSC are working together to provide updates and support for the community during this time. Crews are actively working to repair the water main, and updates on the progress will be shared as soon as they are available.
On Wednesday, heavy water flow was observed running down the street near Houston Avenue, prompting the placement of barricades in front of 641 Houston and 666 Houston. These barricades are set up to prevent access to Sligo Creek Parkway due to safety concerns.
At the time, Park Police closed the intersections at Sligo Creek Parkway/Maple Avenue and Sligo Creek Parkway/Piney Branch Road. Residents and commuters are advised to avoid these areas and seek alternate routes. Photo courtesy Google Maps.
