Eater DC has released its list of the “18 Best Steakhouses Around DC” and four Maryland restaurants have made the list– three with locations in Montgomery County.
Charley Prime opened in Gaithersburg’s Rio Lakefront in May 2023 and has been well-received by the community, including the Washington Post’s Tom Sietsema. The new lest restaurant from Jackie Greenbaum & Gordon Banks (Little Coco’s, El Chucho, Bar Charley, Quarry House Tavern) replaced Tara Thai on the Rio Lakefront boardwalk at 9811 Washington Blvd. It features an extensive steak menu that includes filet mignon, New York strip, and a 36oz Tomahawk ribeye, as well as house made pastas and sandwiches like the Roasted Lamb French Dip. J. Hollinger’s Waterman’s Chophouse opened at 8606 Colesville Rd. in May 2022. The chef-driven chophouse and fresh seafood spot was opened by Montgomery County restaurateur and caterer Jerry Hollinger, also of The Daily Dish and the Dish & Dram. Medium Rare first opened in DC’s Cleveland Park in 2011. The restaurant has added many other locations across the country ever since, but before its larger expansion came the Bethesda location at 4904 Fairmont Ave. The restaurants features a simple menu: steak frites, accompanied by bread and a mixed green salad, at a fixed price ($29.95). Voltaggio Brothers Steakhouse is located at the MGM National Harbor Hotel and Casino in Prince George’s County. Known for their time on Bravo’s Emmy-winning season of Top Chef, brothers Bryan and Michael Voltaggio joined forces for the first time with their modern steak house at MGM.
