Earlier this year we let you know that TOUS les JOURS, a French-Asian bakery will be taking over the space currently occupied by Corner Bakery in Rio. Corner Bakery’s last day of business in Rio was Thursday, February 22nd. Construction, which included the removal of the clock that was part of the Corner Bakery decor for more than 25 years, began in the early summer and now things look almost ready to go (photos below).
The space was gutted in preparation for TOUS Les JOURS and the interior construction now appears to be nearly complete. The facade received a facelift as well. For a short time, the sidewalk in front of the location was closed, but has since reopened as the bakery moves closer towards opening. An exact date has not been provided, but based on the progress, it could be relatively soon. Google lists a tentative date of December 20th.
The French-Asian Bakery features a variety of breads, pastries, and cakes that are baked in-store daily, as well as a wide selection of coffee/espresso based drinks and teas. A separate TOUS Les JOURS franchise (different owners) can be found inside of New Grand Mart (13069 Wisteria Dr) in Germantown.
