Former Washington Nationals player Juan Soto has agreed to a contract with the New York Mets that will pay him $765 million over the next 15 years. If you break down the deal that’s believed to be the largest in team sports history, it’s $51 million per year, $4.25 million per month, $980,769K per week, $139,726 per day, $5,821 per hour, and $97 per minute for the next fifteen years. Five years ago, Soto made a surprise visit to a school bus stop and took pictures with students of North Bethesda Middle School.
From November 2019: Nats left fielder Juan Soto was all the talk at North Bethesda Middle School this past week. The 21-year-old Soto surprised a group of students in the morning as they waited for their bus. We’re told he is friends with a family whose child attends the school, so he decided to stop by and say hello. Soto took pictures with any student who wanted one (photos below) and gave them an experience they’ll never forget in the process.
Soto signed with the Nationals as an international free agent in 2015. He made his MLB debut in 2018 and was the runner-up for the NL Rookie of the Year Award. In 2019, he was a key part of the Nationals’ first World Series championship. In 2020, Soto qualified for the batting title and became the youngest player in National League history to win, hitting .351 during the regular season and received his first All Star selection in 2021 (also NL MVP runner-up). He was traded to the San Diego Padres in August 2022 and then to the New York Yankees in December 2023.
