Olney Winery Announces Permanent Closure

Olney Winery, located at 52 Olney Sandy Spring Rd. in Ashton, announced in November that it would be “closed until further notice.” On Friday, an email was sent to customers confirming that Olney Winery would be closing permanently.

Olney Winery has been operating since 2012, initially as The Winery at Olney. The winemaker was located at 18127 Town Center Drive in the Fair Hill shopping center in Olney until September of 2022. In 2016, expanded and opened a tasting room in the stone house at 12810 Shank Farm Way in Hagerstown. In the summer of 2023, Olney Winery opened its new space at 52 Olney Sandy Spring Road in Ashton Market.

The letter to customers, which can be seen in full below, announces the closure and thanks customers for support through the years. It also notes that discounted wine would be available for sale on Saturday, December 14th and Sunday, December 15th.

Dear Customers,

It is with a heavy heart that Olney Winery is closing its doors permanently. We truly appreciate all our customers and all your support through the years.

Did you want to purchase wine while it’s still available? If so, you can… We will be at the tasting room this Saturday, December 14th and Sunday, December 15th from Noon until 4pm. Transactions are cashonly and wine is discounted at 50% off 12 or more bottles, 25% off 6 to 11 bottles, and 20% off 5 bottles or less.

We want to personally thank everyone for their loyalty to us over the years. It’s truly been a pleasure getting to know each and every one of you.
