Alert Montgomery sent out a traffic alert at 2:21pm regarding a traffic incident that “closes northbound I-270 before Middlebrook Rd. Expect significant delays. Seek alternate route.”
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services (MCFRS) responded to the crash shortly before 2pm. According to MCFRS chief spokesperson Pete Piringer, the crash involves six vehicles and occurred between exits 12 and 13 on I-270.
Per Piringer, at least four people were transported to the hospital with injuries– all non-life-threatening and priority 3 (minor injuries). Several passengers have passed along that traffic is backed up for several miles on I-270 North as of 3pm.
3:16pm Update: Two right lanes of northbound I-270 before Middlebrook Rd have reopened. Three left lanes remain closed. Continue to expect delays.
