The City of Gaithersburg recently shared information proudly marking the 26th anniversary of its Holiday Giving Program, which supports children aged 1 to 17 in need of holiday assistance.
Per the City of Gaithersburg, this initiative was made possible through the generous collaboration of the City of Gaithersburg, local businesses, congregations, and community members, ensuring that all referred families received support.
The 2024 Holiday Giving event took place on December 20 at The Carnegie Washingtonian Center, a platinum sponsor for this year’s program. Over 500 attendees enjoyed a festive atmosphere filled with arts and crafts, hot cocoa, cookies, carolers, and a special visit from Santa. Each parent received a $25 gift card for their children.
The success of the Holiday Giving Program relies entirely on community donations and the support of volunteers who assist families referred by schools and social service organizations.
“Every child deserves a gift during the holiday season,” stated Community Services Division Manager Renee Nicolosi. “Through the Holiday Giving Program, we have the opportunity to spread love, best wishes, and holiday cheer by providing gifts to children who may not otherwise receive them. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our sponsors and donors whose generous contributions have allowed us to support every child in Gaithersburg enrolled in this program. Together, we have made the season brighter for many families.”
