According to District 3 Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) Commander Jason Cokinos, a community member in downtown Silver Spring spotted a suspect breaking into cars around 3 AM and called 911, enabling MCPD 3rd District officers to swiftly apprehend the individual. The suspect, linked to at least two thefts, was charged and transported to central booking.

Early this morning around 3AM an adult male subject was breaking into cars in downtown Silver Spring (8300 block of Draper Lane). A sharp eyed community member called 911 and your @mcpnews 3rd District midnight officers quickly responded and caught the guy.
At least two maybe more victims at this time. Suspect was transported to central booking and charged.
