Governor Wes Moore’s Statement on Tentative Labor Agreements Reached Between the State of Maryland and State Government Major Employee Labor Unions

On Saturday, Governor Wes Moore issued a statement announcing the tentative labor agreements reached between the State of Maryland and its seven major employee labor unions ahead of the December 31, 2024, deadline.

“I’m pleased to announce that the State of Maryland has reached tentative labor agreements in partnership with Maryland’s seven major employee labor unions. I would like to thank representatives from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees; the Maryland Professional Employees Council; the American Federation of Teachers; the State Law Enforcement Officers Labor Alliance; the International Association of Fire Fighters; and the Fraternal Order of Police for their partnership during negotiations. While members must ratify final memoranda of understanding, we are again encouraged by our progress.

The Moore-Miller Administration is committed to growing our economy and restoring faith in our public institutions—and our State employees are a critical part of our strategy. We are grateful for their many contributions, and together, we will continue to uplift the dignity of their service.”
