Light Snow Expected Friday Night Into Saturday

After 6-9” across the county earlier this week that has caused three consecutive snow days, we are now looking at the potential for light snow this Friday into Saturday.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has released its first map (featured photo) for the timeframe and most of the immediate DC Metro area is in the ‘less than 3 inch’ range. The “high end amount” map shows four inches area-wide (10% chance) and the “low end amount” map shows shows less than an inch to no snow for most of the area (10% chance). Both of those maps can be seen below.

Unless the timing moves up a little, this shouldn’t affect after-school activities on Friday, but if the 2-3 inches fall overnight it could make for a messy Saturday morning. Regardless, impacts from this light snow should not last too long.  Cold temperatures are expected to remain in the area for the next couple weeks.
