On a chilly Saturday morning, the Walt Whitman High School boys basketball team, along with their coach, Chris Lun, dedicated their time to supporting local families in need. In partnership with Access Youth DC, the team participated in a meaningful initiative to buy and bag groceries for Whitman Families4Families.
The effort resulted in the donation of 29 fully packed bags of essential groceries to families, ensuring they have access to basic necessities during these challenging times. In addition to the groceries, the team included cocoa and hot tea for families to enjoy as they stay warm during the cold winter days.
Families4Families was founded in March 2020 by the Marshall family in response to the critical food emergency triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative aims to support families facing food insecurity by providing them with essential supplies.
A schedule of upcoming events at various area schools can be found on the Families4Families website.
