Kajiken opened its first DC Metro location at 1701 Rockville Pike STE A7 in Rockville this past summer, joining restaurants in Baltimore, Chicago, Manhattan, and San Mateo, California. Now, the restaurant has announced a soft opening on Monday, January 13th for its first Virginia location at 7505 Leesburg Pike D in Falls church. Our very own Mr. MoCo (Alex Tsironis) named the “brothless ramen” his favorite dish in Montgomery County for July 2024 (video below).
The restaurant offers Abura soba, which can be described as soupless ramen, with flavors coming from a special blend of sauce and oil. Kajiken’s homemade thick noodles and sauces are imported from Japan. “The combination of chili oil and vinegar made it one of the tastiest things I’ve ever eaten,” Tsironis said.
The dish is the Roasted Beef Aburasoba. It consists of “Noodles with Roasted Beef, Raw Egg Yolk, Fried Onion, Scallion, Yogurt and Chaliapin Sauce.” Tsironis says, “Mix for 20 seconds, then enjoy it before it gets cold. I recommend adding extra vinegar and chili oil.”
The dish goes for a modest $18, with two additional pieces of roasted beef for an extra $2 if you choose to add it. You can also choose from an additional 20 toppings for an extra charge.
The Falls Church location will be open Monday-Thursday 11:30am-9:30pm and Friday-Sunday 11:30am-10pm.
