The National Weather Service (NWS) has shared that “Confidence is increasing for the potential of accumulating snow Sunday across the area. If this threat materializes, it may cause travel disruptions. This forecast will evolve over the next couple of days, so monitor”
Right now, the GFS (American model) is showing moderate snow for the area starting in the afternoon on and going into Monday. The Euro (European model) previously showed snow for the area and then took it away before bringing back some light snow. The GEM (Canadian) shows much heavier snow for the area, but can be very hit or miss.
Local meteorologist Doug Kammerer (NBC 4) shared the NWS post on the elevated chances of snow with some excited and Mike Thomas (FOX 5) shared, “Tricky tricky! This is likely going to be one of those situations where things could change right up through Sunday morning. Could still see anything from moderate snow, to light snow, to nothing at all. Wouldn’t take anything off the table yet.”
It remains something to keep a close eye on, though many are already off of work and school due to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Inauguration Day on Monday, January 20th.
