The Food Market, a popular restaurant concept by Chef Chad Gauss, is set to open its latest location in Bethesda. The restaurant will be located on the lower level of the upcoming Hampden House development at 4700 Hampden Lane.
Known for its elevated comfort food, The Food Market aims to provide what Chef Gauss describes as “an up-to-par, yet down-to-earth dining experience.” The Food Market first opened in Hampden (Baltimore City) in 2012, and expanded to Columbia in November 2024.
The Food Market’s menu includes popular dishes such as the Duck Reuben (duck confit, sauerkraut, Gruyere, 1000 island dressing, on griddled rye bread), Hot Honey Crispy Chicken (pickle cabbage, pit spice, more pickles, potato roll), Nick Double Burger with Cheese (shredded lettuce, sugar-roasted tomato, minced onion, pickle, secret sauce, seeded bun), and the Famous Cheesesteak (fried onions, cherry pepper mayo, salt, pepper, cheesewhiz).
Hampden House is a transit-oriented, mixed-use development featuring a 25-story structure with 366 apartment units and 10,100 square feet of retail space. Located in downtown Bethesda near the Bethesda Metro station, Hampden House is scheduled for completion in late 2025. We will provide an update when an opening timeframe for The Food Market becomes available.
