National Weather Service Increases Forecasted Snow Totals

The National Weather Service (NWS) previously expanded the Winter Storm Warning to include additional areas like portions of Montgomery, Howard, and Loudoun counties. A Winter Weather Advisory was also issued for the other half of Montgomery, Howard, and Loudoun counties as well as DC, Prince George’s County, and other surrounding areas. Now, they have increased forecasted totals in their latest maps (Saturday afternoon).

Most of Montgomery County is now in the 4-6 inch range with areas like Bethesda and Silver Spring in the 2-3 inch range and Damascus in the 6-8 inch range. The ‘High End Amount’ map (10% chance) shows 6 inches for all of Montgomery County and 8 inches north. The ‘Low End Amount’ map (10% chance) shows just a trace for most of the area.
