Several Readers Report Montgomery County’s Last Remaining Jerry’s Has Closed Earlier Than Anticipated

Yesterday we reported that Montgomery County’s last remaining Jerry’s Subs & Pizza (8517 Colesville Rd. Silver Spring, MD) will close permanently on Friday, January 31st, based on two phone call conversations with the store. Today, several readers have shared they tried making one last trip and the restaurant was already closed. One reader stated he spoke with employees who were inside and was told the restaurant closed earlier than expected. Phone calls made to Jerry’s were not answered Tuesday afternoon.

The first Jerry’s ever was on University Blvd in Wheaton (opened in 1954). The company once had over 100 restaurants in the mid-Atlantic region, but is now down to three according to the official Jerry’s website (Dunkirk, Solomon’s Island, and Maryland House in Aberdeen– all in MD).

The Jerry’s store in Burtonsville transitioned to Jeffrey’s and still offers a nearly identical menu with a green logo and sign rather than the traditional Jerry’s red. Prior to closing, the Aspen Hill Jerry’s began a transition to “Jay’s”, while also keeping the nearly identical menu.
