The City of Gaithersburg is celebrating and honoring Black History Month with a variety of educational programs, discussions, and an official proclamation.
Activities and exhibits celebrating Black History Month can be found here. An official proclamation designating February 2025 as “Black History Month” in the City of Gaithersburg will be presented at the February 3 Mayor & City Council meeting.
Per the City of Gaithersburg, “Accepting the proclamation is Reverend Timothy Warner of Emory Grove Methodist Church. A dedicated leader, Rev. Warner is committed to serving the community and is passionate about assisting individuals, organizations, and communities in achieving their goals, especially during periods of change and uncertainty that affect marginalized groups.
Rev. Warner is a graduate of Wesley Theological Seminary and has been recognized with the Harry S. Denman Evangelism Award by the Baltimore-Washington Conference of the United Methodist Church and the National Association of Counties (NACo) Award for the Neighborhood Opportunity Network. His extensive service includes roles as president of the Board of Directors for Gaithersburg HELP, member of the Board of Trustees for the National Center for Children and Families, chief engagement and partnership officer for Montgomery County Public Schools, community liaison for the African American and Faith Communities, and associate council director for Community and Economic Development.”
