Metrorail Red Line Service Will Have Disruptions From Saturday, Feb. 1 Through Sunday, Feb. 2, With Some Station Closures

MCDOT has shared that due to maintenance work, Metrorail service will be impacted from Saturday, February 1 from 7 a.m. – 1 a.m. and Sunday, February 2 from 7 a.m. – Midnight. On the Red Line, Metro will replace switches at Friendship Heights interlocking, perform rail and fastener renewal and third rail maintenance, and conduct grout pad repair and leak mitigation. Bethesda, Friendship Heights, and Tenleytown stations will be closed. Below are the anticipated service impacts:

Red Line: Trains run every 8 minutes (daytime) and 10 minutes (evening) between Shady Grove and Medical Center and between Van Ness-UDC and Glenmont. Bethesda, Friendship Heights, and Tenleytown stations closed. 

Metrobus will operate free shuttles to replace trains between Van Ness-UDC and Medical Center. Shuttles will run every 6-8 minutes during rail operating hours. The Express shuttle will serve Medical Center and Van Ness-UDC (estimated travel time is 23 minutes). The Local shuttle will serve Medical Center, Bethesda, Tenleytown, Friendship Heights, and Van Ness-UDC.
