Suspect with Suspicious Bulge Arrested; Handgun and Glock 27 Recovered

On Friday, Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) officers arrested a suspect who left a Glenmont 7-11 with a suspicious bulge and entered a white Nissan Altima on Georgia Ave with a passenger holding a handgun, leading to the recovery of a Glock 27 and two loaded magazines.

According to District 4 (4D) Commander David Smith, “Earlier today, our @mcpnews 4th District Community Action Team (DCAT) officers observed a male leaving the Glenmont 7-11 with a suspicious bulge in his jacket pocket. The individual entered a white Nissan Altima which was stopped in the 12500 block of Georgia Ave.

Upon approach, officers saw the rear passenger hunched toward the floor, holding a black handgun. When removed from the vehicle, the suspect fled on foot, leading officers on a lengthy pursuit before being apprehended in 12600 block of Georgia Ave.

A Glock 27 with an extended 18-round magazine and a round in the chamber was recovered from the vehicle, along with a second fully loaded magazine on the suspect’s person.

Outstanding work by 4DCAT officers for getting another illegal firearm off the streets and ensuring our community stays safe.”
