Metro Sees Highest Monday Morning Rush Ridership Since 2020

WMATA has shared that it’s seeing “record ridership as more customers return to the office.” The morning rush this past Monday, February 3rd, saw 92,600 trips, which is the highest Monday rush hour ridership since 2020.

Last April, Metro announced that peak commute hours in March saw an average of 50,000 entries an hour (from 8-9 a.m. and 5-6 p.m. Monday through Thursday), a 25% increase over March 2023. Monday is almost double that number.

WMATA General Manager & CEO Randy Clarke shared the following: “We love seeing so many of our residents & visitors using #wmata. 45 straight months of ridership increases & February is off to a big start. We are working hard to deliver the safe, frequent and reliable service our region needs. Thx you for riding. See you onboard!”
